Coastal Beats is a collective of some of the finest DJs from around Australia, many of whom now call Byron Bay home.

Our Head DJ is Dustin McLean.

Dustin started his musical career studying jazz piano at the VCA in Melbourne before spending more than 15 years on the road as a touring musician & producer with a wide variety of groups. 

During this time he performed nationally & internationally at venues & festivals like The Sydney Opera House, Falls Festival (4 x), Big Day Out (9 x), Splendour In The Grass, Meredith Music Festival, Pyramid Festival (2 x) Edinburgh Festival (UK), Kinestasia Festival (Singapore), Melbourne Concert Hall, Byron Blues Fest, Woodford Festival, Parklife Festival (3 x), AFL Grand Final, MCG (Pre Match Entertainment), London Jazz Cafe (UK) + heaps more.

He has supported or performed with acts like Ed Sheeran, Killing Heidi, Reggie Watts, The Bangles, Tim Rogers (You Am I), Eddie Perfect, The Bamboos, Hill Top Hoods, Adalita (Magic Dirt), Tim Minchin, Harry Angus (The Cat Empire), M-Phazes, Ruel, TZU, Megan Washington, Ross Hannaford (Daddy Cool), Bart Willoughby (Yothu Yindi) + heaps more.

As a producer/engineer/session muso he has worked on numerous releases from artists such as Missy Higgins, Pete Murray, Jane Tyrrell (The Herd), Mantra, Illy, Briggs, Joelistics, Kav Temperly (Eskimo Joe), Luke Steele (Empire Of The Sun, Sleepy Jackson) and most notably receiving writing credits on Madonna’s 2016 Rebel Heart album as well as other US artists like rapper Lupe Fiasco (feat Guy Sebastian). 

He was also part of the production team that won a coveted UK Mercury Award in 2009 for the debut album from UK rapper Speech Debelle

In 2017 he co-engineered the debut solo album from Grammy nominated artist Nai Palm (Hiatus Kaiyote).

… In between touring & studio work he has also spent the last 20 years honing his skills as a DJ in a multitude of venues in his native Melbourne.  Prior to moving north, his main residency was 6 hours every Saturday night on the rooftop bar of legendary Melbourne venue “The Corner Hotel”. 

He has also performed at literally hundreds of weddings, and loves it more every time!!!!

We respect the tradition & craft of DJing so all of our DJs use real turntables where possible.

DJ Will

Will has 15+ years experience DJing and collecting music, working in a wide variety of settings: from clubs and bars to weddings, birthdays & corporate events, playing a vast range of musical styles and genres to suit different demographics. Styles include but are not limited to, funk, soul, R&B, hip-hop, disco, house, rock, jazz, afro, Latin, reggae, pop, hits from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, 2000’s and current.

Having begun his DJ career studying the art of turntablism, he developed his skills as a party-rocker, collecting a vast array of dance floor-friendly records. Just as comfortable setting the mood with background tunes as he is working a prime-time dancefloor, Will manages to smoothly blend these different styles into an eclectic, interesting and fun set. In more recent years Will has focused on private events rather than clubs and bars playing a ton of weddings for a wide range of clients and musical tastes.  

Will also added ‘Aria Award-Winning Producer’ to his resume having produced the track “Check It Out” for Illy’s album “Bring It Back”, which won an ARIA for “Best Urban Album”.


DJ Anna Lumb

Anna is a DJ, circus artist, theatre maker, writer & actor.  As a DJ she has played at weddings & corporate functions including 10 Minute Dance Parties for the Arts Centre Melbourne, and for festivals such as the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Melbourne Fringe Festival, Melbourne Queer Film Festival and White Nights.In her more theatrical roles she has performed at circus, music & theatre festivals around the world (Finucane & Smith’s Glory Box/The Burlesque Hour, La Soiree, New York’s Absinthe) & has toured extensively with world renowned Sway (formerly Strange Fruit) & Strut and Fret Production House.  She is a core-collaborator of the award-winning outfit Retro Futurismus.  Her solo work combines text, circus & comedy in a variety of short form and full-length performances, including the critically acclaimed Hard to Reach Places & her popular touring children’s show, Super Amazing Giant Girl. She has appeared on television as an actor (Ronny Chieng: International Student, David Quirk’s Cowboy Mouth) & as a circus artist (WB Kids, Stand & Deliver, Studio at the Memo, The Great Debate).


DJ Saxn

With his roots in the organisation of grimy secret warehouse parties, SΛXN has since seen great success as an open format DJ in one of the most musically diverse tourism hotspots of the world – The Gold Coast, QLD Australia.

Since 2011 he has held residencies at many top local clubs in addition to scores of open format performances at bars, private parties, corporate events and weddings.

His passion for music spans a multitude of genres which is evident on the dance floor. SΛXN takes his guests on a musical journey through the decades with a mix of electronica and house, strongly influenced by disco, jazz, r&b, hiphop & soul.

SΛXN combines looping with harmonic phrase mixing in his DJ sets to blend genres together seamlessly with an emphasis on set progression, crowd response and stage presence. This potent mixture has created the perfect storm to take his talents from a National to International Level. 

Lazer Ferrari

Lazer Ferrari (A.K.A Thomas W. Butt) is a DJ, double-bassist, producer, teacher and recording artist who tours and performs live nationally and internationally.

Thomas has gathered over 25 years experience performing at countless festivals, boats, clubs, beaches, boat houses, skyscrapers, stadiums, arenas, VIP rooms, buses, warehouses, bars, rooftops, and city squares across the globe, from Australia to Singapore to Mauritius to Marseille.

He works as a session musician, records and produces his own music, designs sound for theatre, circus and burlesque, and works as a producer, teacher and mentor with at-risk youth, both inside and out of detention centres.

Thomas has developed a unique DJ style based on his wide and varied musical knowledge and taste. His DJ sets are renowned for blending the best of modern electronic beat music with the finest global sounds from the 50’s to the present.

Career highlights include:  Support tour with Justin Timberlake's Futuresex/Lovesounds National Australian Tour; DJ consultant and pre-production for 2016-2020 Mumm Champagne Marquee @ Spring Racing Carnivals; ringing in the 2016 New Year for the City of Melbourne at Federation Square - DJing to around 50,000 people; Melbourne Festival 2015; Melbourne International Fringe Festival 2014 2015; Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2015 - 2021; The Secret Garden Party, London, (2011/2012);  Sakifo Music Festival, (Reunion near Mauritius/Madagascar); Big Day Out Festival Tour 2013; Let Them Eat Cake Festival, 2013;  six international tours with over 60 shows across Singapore, France, Switzerland, Belgium, The UK, Mauritius, Isle De La Reunion, and New Zealand.  Double Bassist and co-founder of Melbourne orchestral hip hop act, True Live. DJ DAN

DJ Dan (UK) started his career in his native Newcastle, England before moving to New Zealand and rapidly taking over Friday and Saturday night residencies around Queenstown. 

Being a multi-genre DJ he loves to blend styles and beats together to get the people going and dance floors shaking.  Whether its a classic singalong, your favourite banger or underground club remixes he knows how to mash it up to perfection and when DJing a wedding takes special pride in getting the sound and vibe exactly right.   When he’s not rocking parties you'll find him writing music reviews for magazines.  


J.R. Dynamite

JR. Dynamite (aka Jeremy Dotch) has amassed a large devoted group of followers nationally and internationally and is considered the Don of Funk/Soul/Disco remixes in Australia.  With more than 20 years DJing under his belt he divides his time between private events, rocking local bars and soundtracking amazing dance floor moments at parties all around the world. 

Whether touring internationally (Bangkok, Seoul, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Mauritius, New Zealand, Ibiza, Mallorca, Sicily, Amalfi Coast, London, Jersey, Berlin, Montenegro, Tulum, Salvador) or supporting incredible local and international artists (Major Lazer, Coldplay, Rudimental, Mark Ronson, Ed Sheeren, Lionel Richie, The Presets and Pnau) he always delivers a packed dance floor. 

Locally he's the national promo DJ for all Foxtel related events and holds down coveted residencies at many of the Gold Coast and Sydney's finest establishments. 

After Djing at more than 200 weddings and loads of high profile corporate events (Qantas, M&C.Saatchi, Nike, Microsoft) his experience becomes glaringly evident whenever he takes to the decks at an event.


DJ Linden

Linden is a DJ, multi instrumentalist & producer who has been touring nationally & internationally for the last twenty years performing at festivals including Glastonbury (UK), Boomtown (UK), Edinburgh Fringe Festival (UK), Fusion Festival (Germany), Atmosphere (Canada), Katuaq (Greenland), WOMADelaide (AUS), Falls Festival (Aus), Woodford Folk Festival (Aus), Rainbow Serpent (Aus), Queenscliff Music Festival (Aus) & Luminate (NZ). 

He has worked with a wide range of artists on stage & in the studio including Tim Freedman (The Whitlams), Harry Angus (Cat Empire), Opiuo, Ainslie Wills, & Bobby Alu.

After completing a music degree at SCU in 2000, Linden spent the next fifteen years based in Melbourne where he was a founding member of several bands including instrumental dance music band Morph, dub/reggae band Sine, improvisational world music/dance music act the Imprints & afro-reggae collective Simmer.  Linden regularly presented shows at well loved venues Hifi Bar, the Espy & the Corner where he DJ'd alongside performing with Morph. He was invited by Brian Eno to support Jamaican Producer Lee Scratch Perry (known for producing Bob Marley) at the Sydney Opera House with Sine. His band The Imprints were the first Australian band to perform in Greenland, where they were invited to play a festival in the capital city Nuuk.
Linden relocated to the Byron Shire in 2017 where he is busy DJing & performing gigs, weddings & events as well as being an in demand session musician.


Dastardly Kuts

Dastardly Kuts (AKA Dion) is a veteran bass, breaks, house, funk, disco, hip hop and party-style DJ and music producer who has been bringing his mash-up style of funky club flavours to Australia for over sixteen years in a career that has seen him warm up the decks for some of the world's most respected musical artists. Whether providing laid-back grooves at his local lounge bar or facilitating booty shaking and loose decision making at clubs and festivals alike, it’s Dastardly Kuts ability to read a crowd and effortlessly glide between genres with a mix of traditional DJing, turntablism and live remixing that sets him apart.
